WALK FOR A GOOD CAUSE - INTERCONTINENTAL DANANG SUN PENINSULA RESORT JOINED IHG’S 2012 FUND-RAISING INITIATE

On April 18, 2012, teams from hotels within the IHG group all over the world took part in a charity “Race around the World” project in celebration of InterContinental Hotels Group’s official partnership with the London Olympic and Paralympics Games 2012. This is part of IHG’s Corporate Social Responsibilities effort to build up a Shelter in a Storm fund to ensure timely and vital assistance once natural or man-made disasters happen. For every 1 kilometer of distance covered, the hotel will donate US$1 to the IHG “Shelter in a Storm Fund”.

The event started from 3PM with InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort team wearing branded T-shirts walking on the street attracted much attention from by-lookers. 201 members of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort walked and run from Truong Sa Street toward Pham Van Dong Park; resulted to a total of 964.8 kilometers or 965 US$ to support the project.

Beyond InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, teams from properties including the InterContinental Asiana Saigon, InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, Crowne Plaza West Hanoi and Crowne Plaza Danang also participate in the charity initiative. All 5 IHG properties in Vietnam pledged 3,460 kilometers, that makes one full round of Vietnam.

Last year, around 25,000 people in 47 countries came together to walk, run, swim and cycle a combined total of 68,588 kilometers. This year, IHG is aiming to reach 100,000 kilometers and raise a total of $100,000 in support of the “Shelter in a Storm Fund”.
